Reading the anglers mail today and noticed pages 6 and 7 both have news on the wandle.

Good news: Charlie dimmock and her mates were removing the floating pennywort from the river, not surebut the section looks like the hackbridge. Heard on the news the abbey mills section has had some removed too.

Bad news: Thames water have appealed against the fine imposed for the devastating pollution they caused two years ago. The fine has been reduced from £125,000 to a measly £50,000.

What is that amount of money going to do? not that it will be used to continue the rejuvenation of the river. It will no doubt allow an MP to have his garden mowed and watered during the next drought due to leaking water pipes!! Now who do we see about that..........???

Its disgusting. I feel so sorry for all the volunteers whose hard work in the last 20 years was destroyed in a matter of hours. What happened to the 1 million pound figure that was banded around at the time and the promise of help from the company??
