Hi Guys,

New to the forum and not a member of the club but seemed a good place to chat to people who fish the wandle.

Something came to my attention yesterday whilst fishing at the abbey mills stretch. I was fishing 50 yards down stream from the bridge at the entrance to Deen City Farm. Had a great day with a common about 4lb and a mirror about 10lb-12lb both on feeder and worm. Plus lot's of roach, gudgeon and chublets.

Anyway, I was approached by a Hungarian lad and 2 polish guys at different times and they were very happy to learn carp were present. Both were miffed I'd put them back and informed me of their intentions to try to catch them to eat!

So eyes open. These people have no intention of purchasing rod licences (so they told me) or returning fish they catch.

I've noticed a massive drop in quality roach and chub in this stretch this season. To lose the carp as well will be tragic.
