cemex and other clubs have recently changed the hook policy back from barbless to barbed because of studies into mouth damage on fish. I have noticed that barbless hooks might mean its easier for a fish to rid its self in the event of snagging but also mean more damage to the fish's mouth ,compared with the minimal amount left by barbed hooks . do you think its a way forward ?
eye eye john.. my experience from match fishing and using barbless on the pole has shown me the opposite..it seems that the constant turning of the hook would enlarge the hole left by a size 20 to something like a size 12..
