Hi all,
I joined over a year ago, and my membership has been one of the best £20 I have spent. I think many people would be amazed at what this little river can produce. Best fish so far a 7lb barbel, but I know that there are much bigger ones and I hope to better it soon.
I have caught several small barbel on the float, one was to breadpunch! A good bag of roach recently on trotted turmeric flavoured maggot. If you like a mixed bag of roach, dace, chub and the possibility of small barbel, float fished maggots are the way to go.
I've found that fish can turn up in even the very shallow swims if you fish after dark - many anglers would think that the water wasn't deep enough to hold anything worthwhile.
One species I haven't caught at all is the Wandle carp. I've seen them often enough in the Rose Garden area. Rather than boilies etc I intend to try for them with bread. I'm sure that people throw a fair bit in for the ducks, so the area should be pre-baited.
Dave
